Brief description of site
Courteenhall has a landscaped park covering about 150 hectares, with formal gardens close to the house. The park was designed in 1791 by Humphry Repton for Sir William Wake, 9th Bart.
Brief history of site
A new house was built on the site in 1580. It became the principal seat ofthe Wake family in the late-18th century. The stables were re-built in around 1770, and the present park was begun at around the same time.
