Brief description of site
Coleton Fishacre is a 20th-century terraced and woodland garden occupying about 8 hectares.
Brief history of site
The house was designed for Rupert and Lady Dorothy D'Oyle Carte. The gardens were laid out at the same time, and developed through the 1930s. Staff reductions in World War 2 led to poorer maintenance of the gardens, and by the 1970s the garden was becoming overcrowded and in need of renovation.
