Brief description of site

The house, walled garden and the garden surrounding the house date from about 1803. The landscape gardens evolved after the mid-19th century, with drives and a ha-ha extant by 1889. The woodland garden was created from 1894 onwards.

The house and garden were given to the National Trust in 1980. The collection of semi-hardy herbaceous and woody material within the walled garden dates from the 1990s.
