Framfield Place was built in 1765. By 1817 the Rev. W. Ridout had sold it to Alexander Donovan who made additions to the mansion and embellished the park and grounds. In 1873 it was owned by the Baxendale family. Between 1890 and 1892, Norman Shaw was commissioned and made substantial alterations and additions to the house, and Sir Edwin Lutyens remodelled the drawing-room. The Baxendale family sold the property in 1910, and in 1971 it was divided vertically into six freehold houses.
