Brief description of site
At Copse Hill there is mid-19th-century parkland and a house dating back to the late 19th century. The gardens and grounds appear to be well-wooded and show the remains of a Victorian layout.
Brief history of site
The park was laid out at Copse Hill in the 19th century, when in 1852 part of the manorial estate of Upper Slaughter (including the old manor house) was exchanged for the glebe land at Sherborne and Windrush and later became known as Copse Hill. The house was built in 1872 for H A Brassey, whose family still owned the estate in the mid-20th century.
