Brief description of site
Hulton Park is a landscape park largely laid out in the early years of the 19th century, and originally associated with Hulton Hall, which was demolished in 1958. Most of the land is now (2008) private property but a small section of New Park Wood is owned by Bolton Metropolitan Borough Council.
Brief history of site
The Hulton family were associated with the site as early as the 14th century. The park is shown on a map of 1610, but the main development took place in the early-19th century in the years up to 1836. A new hall was also built in the early-19th century to replace a former house.
