Brief description of site
Mainstone Court is a house of the early 19th century incorporating much of the fabric of a 17th-century house. The formal canal forming a boundary to the garden may be a remnant of an early 17th-century water garden, itself perhaps formed from an earlier moat.
Brief history of site
The garden appears to be a survival from the early 17th century. The house was remodelled in about 1820.
