Brief description of site
Chenies is a 15th-century manor house set in formal gardens of Tudor origin, which were laid out in the late-19th century by Edwin Lutyens. This is thought to be the earliest collaboration between Lutyens and Gertrude Jekyll. The gardens are divided into compartments and feature a seasonal planting scheme.

The manor house and grounds date from the 15th century. The gardens previously consisted of terraces which have been restored and altered in the 20th century.
