A Royal park of medieval origin, Windsor Great Park has been variously used and developed until the 20th century. The park covers about 2250 hectares and includes wood-, farm- and heathland, gardens and ponds.
Brief history of site
Windsor Great Park was created out of Windsor Forest as a royal hunting park from the 11th century, and by about 1365 had evolved approximately to its present, late 20th century, size and shape.
