Brief description of site

The site has an Arts and Crafts style house with strong associations with William Morris. The gardens were laid out by Alfred Parsons, with the addition of a terrace by Thomas Mawson. The National Trust has created a Mawson style garden based upon ideas from his published works.

Brief history of site

In 1887 Theodore Mander purchased part of the Wightwick estate. The 17th-century house and outbuildings were renovated, and a new house built to one side which was named Wightwick Manor. Thomas Mawson began the main scheme for the house's gardens after 1900.
