Brief description of site
The mid-19th-century designed landscape at Achnacarry comprises parkland, a woodland garden and a terraced garden. There is a remnant of ancient Caledonian Pine Forest in the policies as well as several other notable trees. The Clan Cameron museum is open during the season.
Brief history of site
Achnacarry is the ancestral home of the Camerons of Lochiel. They have managed the estate for over 300 years and continue to develop the gardens.
The designed landscape was first laid out during the latter half of the 17th century, destroyed after the 1745 rising and redesigned in the mid-19th century.
