Brief description of site

Barrington Court has mainly formal garden enclosures and layout of around 3.6 hectares. The site was laid out between 1920 and 1925, partly to designs by Gertrude Jekyll, with avenues and associated buildings of around 5 hectares. The gardens were restored in the late-1970s and 1980s.

Brief history of site

J E Forbes of the partnership Forbes & Tate, prepared a master plan (dated 1917) for transforming the property into a model Arts and Crafts-style estate with new farm buildings, workers’ cottages, and extensive formal walled gardens around the house.
