Brief description of site
Rydal Hall has an 18th-century landscape park and garden occupying a total of 75 hectares. There are also early-20th century terraces by Thomas Mawson. The site is now a religious retreat.
Brief history of site
Improvements to the house, grounds and estate were made during the last half of the 17th century by Sir Daniel Fleming. The current house and the majority of the park and gardens date from the 18th century. Thomas Mawson created the terraces in the 1909.
