Brief description of site
The original landscape park occupies about 172 hectares. The most significant parts are an early-19th-century picturesque garden in the Swiss style, covering 3 hectares, with an adjacent woodland of 4 hectares.
Brief history of site
Robert, second Lord Ongley seems to have been responsible for initially laying out the park in about 1800-1805. The Swiss Garden was created by Robert, third Lord Ongley during the 1820s and 1830s.
