Brief description of site

At Newliston the essential structure of an early 18th-century landscape survives, comprising parkland, woodland blocks, avenues and a formal garden with a diagonal layout and water features. There is also a walled garden and the remains of a two-tiered parterre formed from the excavation of ponds. The gardens are generally open for one month a year under Scotland's Garden Scheme.
