Brief description of site
Mount Edgcumbe is 16th-century house set within an 18th-century landscape park of about 205 hectares on the Rame peninsula. The site has exceptional marine views, and a late 18th- to early-19th-century formal garden and pleasure grounds covering about 40 hectares.
Brief history of site
By 1739, extensive formal gardens and pleasure grounds had been laid out by Sir Richard Edgcumbe, who inherited the estate in 1688. From 1795 the 2nd Earl of Mount Edgcumbe laid out the Italian and French gardens and developed rides and plantations in the park.
