Brief description of site
This is a 17th-century park and late-17th-century gardens, re-developed in the 20th century. The park covered 80 hectares at its most extensive. The present gardens extend for 4 hectares.
Brief history of site
Sir William Sandys came into possession of Miserden in 1620 and almost immediately began building. The house and terraced gardens are shown in Kips' view of 1712. The estate changed hands several times, and was bought by Capt F N H Wills and his wife in 1914, under whose ownership the house and gardens took on their present form.
