Brief description of site
The designed landscape at Ballimore on the shores of Loch Fyne comprises early-19th-century parkland, broadleaved woodland, a diverse late-19th-century woodland garden and a kitchen garden. The structure of the early-20th-century formal terraces around the house still survives. There is also a contemporary water garden in a more informal style.
Brief history of site
The designed landscape at Ballimore was laid out at the same time as the house was built in about 1830 by David Hamilton. The gardens around the house were laid out by Thomas Mawson in about 1901. Since the middle of the 20th century the gardens and grounds have been rejuvenated.
