Brief history of site

There was medieval enclosed garden associated with the manor house of that period. Robert Hooke designed gardens between 1660 and 1680 for the 1st Earl of Burlington. The 3rd Earl of Burlington extended and altered the gardens and park between 1721 and 1753 with the help of his gardener, Thomas Knowlton. Londesborough Park was restored during the 19th century.
