Brief description of site
Aysgarth Rockery is a picturesque alpine rockery built using blocks of limestone to create a rockscape and water feature. It was designed and built by James Backhouse of York.
Reginald Farrer, an alpine specialist and plant hunter, is thought to have connections with the site.
Brief history of site
Frank Sayer-Graham commissioned Backhouse and Sons to construct the rock garden between 1906 and 1916.
