Brief description of site

Kelston Park has a terraced garden and landscape park of around 75 hectares.

Brief history of site

Some time between 1567 and 1574, John Harrington began building a house which was finished by his son. It was intended to be one of the grandest houses in the county. Sir Caesar Hawkins, a leading surgeon, created a new mansion between 1765 and 1770, and commissioned Capability Brown to lay out the park in 1767-8.
