Brief description of site
Howick has an early-20th-century woodland garden set within 35 acres of 19th-century wooded pleasure grounds and a 50-hectare late-18th-century parkland.
Brief history of site
The Grey family have lived at Howick since the 12th century. Much of the woodland was planted by the 2nd Earl Grey from 1809 onwards. Lord and Lady Grey laid out the present garden from 1917 on the site of an earlier layout.
