Brief description of site
A compartmented Edwardian garden covering about 1.2 hectares surrounds the house built in 1900 by Detmar Blow. The house is designed in the vernacular domestic style.
Brief history of site
The site was farmland in 1841. In the late-19th century, three fields were bought by Albermarle Cator with the intention of building a holiday house, for which he commissioned Detmar Blow in 1900. The compartmented garden was laid out at the same time. The main grounds were extended to the south during the 1930s but during the war the house was requisitioned by the Observer Corps.
