Brief description of site
Originally a 17th-century site, the property now has a late-19th century garden with formal features, covering 15 hectares, and informal lawns and woodland.
Brief history of site
The house was enlarged from a farmhouse by George Devey about 1874-1886, for Leopold de Rothschild. The gardens and much of the park were laid out at the same time. There appears to have been no earlier designed park or garden on the site.
