The designed landscape at Armadale Castle is associated with the partially derelict early-19th-century castle. There is a 19th-century arboretum and a formal garden situated in the former west end of the castle.
Brief history of site
The land at Armadale has associations with the Clan Donald going back to the 15th century and became the family seat in 1790. The castle was abandoned in 1925. The Clan Donald Lands Trust bought the estate in 1972 and have restored the gardens and opened a visitor centre.
