Brief description of site
At Flitwick Manor pleasure grounds and a park of 22 hectares form the setting for a small country house (now a hotel). The layout dates mainly from the late-18th and early-19th century, and attracted praise from J C Loudon. The grounds were originally part of a wider ornamental estate.
Brief history of site
A new house was built at the manor after Edward Blofield's purchase in 1632. George Brooks obtained the estate by marriage in 1783 and he and his son John Thomas Brooks re-developed the property in the late-18th and early-19th centuries. The resulting pleasure grounds were praised by Loudon in 1838. The house is now a hotel.
