Brief description of site
The site has three separate gardens related to Eton College, occupying a total area of about 18 hectares.
Brief history of site
Eton College was founded in 1440 by Henry VI. The majority of the ranges surrounding School Yard and Cloister Court were finished by 1500. At least two gardens had been laid out by the late 17th century: the Provost's Garden and the Headmaster's garden. By the late 19th century the Fellows' Garden had been laid out east of the main college buildings and the surrounding meadows had been landscaped.
