The following is from the English Heritage Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest.  

HISTORIC DEVELOPMENT

The site was acquired by W.G. Player. who commissioned Edwin Lutyens (1869-1944) to design the house and grounds. Work began in 1912 but because of the First World War it was not completed until 1919. The site is in private ownership (1998).
