Brief description of site

Dorfold Hall has late-19th-century formal and woodland gardens of about 7.5 hectares which are set in a wider landscape park. The site occupies about 125 hectares in total. William Andrews Nesfield was commissioned to carry out the work.

Brief history of site

The Dorfold estate was bought in 1603 by Sir Roger Wilbraham. It was inherited by his younger brother who in 1616 constructed the greater part of the present house. The present garden layout was established between 1794 and 1822. William Andrews Nesfield improved the park and gardens in the late-19th century.
