Sir David Bryce, senior - Summary

Sir David Bryce, senior was a Scottish architect active in the UK in the 19th century. He was born in Buccleuch Place, Edinburgh, Scotland on 3 April 1803, the son of mason, William Bryce and his wife, Agnes Todd. During his career Bryce worked as an assistant to the architect, William Burn (born 1789, died 1870) and to his brother, John Bryce (born 1805, died 1851) also an architect.

Bryce is noted for his neo-Jacobean ornament and for his work in the Scottish Baronial style. He died at 131 George Street, Edinburgh, Scotland on 5 August 1876 and was buried at New Calton Cemetery in that city.
