James Fergusson was a Scottish architect and architectural historian active in the 19th century.
He was born in 1808 in Ayr, Scotland and worked and travelled abroad frequently, most notably in India, and was the holder of several important public appointments. He died unmarried at his London home, at 20 Langham Place, on 9 January 1886 and was buried at Highgate cemetery.
