Description / history

CABE, the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment, is the government’s adviser on architecture, urban design and public space.The body offers guidance on parks and open spaces as well as buildings.

CABE was set up in 1999 and it is now a statutory body, funded by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport and the Department for Communities and Local Government.

CABE Space is the part of CABE aiming to bring excellence to the design and management of public spaces in towns and cities.
