More than 1,000 Green Flag Awards given in 2009

The 2009 Green Flag Awards, which recognise the best green spaces in England and Wales, were given to over 1,000 participants in July this year. Each award is given for a year. The awards have been so successful in England and Wales that that they are now being piloted in Scotland, Northern Ireland and Holland. The Green Flag Awards are now managed by a consortium of Keep Britain Tidy, GreenSpace and BTCV.
