Highclere land may be sold to protect estate
A six-week public consultation has begun over the future of the Highclere estate. The Carnarvon family wants to sell off some of their land to raise money for repairs to Highclere Castle and its historic estate buildings, including London Lodge, a Grade-II-listed gate lodge at the entrance to the park. A £150,000 restoration of the 18th-century park landscape is also included in the plans.
