Friends Group fights Inveresk closure
Following the recent announcement by the National Trust for Scotland that it is to close some gardens in order to cut costs, the Inveresk Village Society have launched a campaign to save the Inveresk Lodge Garden. They have set up a Friends of Inveresk Lodge Garden Group on Facebook. The garden, which has fine 19th century terracing and a late Victorian greenhouse, has been extensively redeveloped over the past 50 years since it was bequeathed to the National Trust for Scotland. As well as many rare and unusual plants the garden is home to the National Collection of Tropaeolum and a variety of wildlife.
The Garden, which had been preparing to celebrate 50 years of guardianship by the National Trust for Scotland, now faces closure and neglect.
