A big boost for parks from the Lottery
Roberts Park in Bradford, Bushley's Sunken Garden in Hertfordshire, South Park Garden in London and Clifton Park in Rotherham will each enjoy a share of an £11 million lottery windfall as part of a new scheme developed by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) and Big Lottery Fund. The new scheme, which was announced on 9th May 2008, is aimed at the restoration and development of UK parks and gardens.
HLF and BIG will also be developing 11 more parks across the country.
The announcement coincides with the re-launch, by the HLF and BIG in conjunction with GreenSpace, of 'Postcards from the Park' a UK-wide photography competition encouraging people to capture imaginative and creative images of their much beloved local parks.
'Postcards from the Park' runs from May until August 1 2008. The prize is £1,000 in Jessops vouchers.
For your chance to win visit the web site or text PARKS followed by your name and where the photo has been taken in the subject header to 0780 3851 600. The MMS will be charged at the operator's standard rate.
The best entries will be displayed in a national exhibition in September and be transformed into postcards in Lottery-funded venues nationwide.
