£5 million Lottery boost for Rotherham park
Work has started on restoration and improvements to Clifton Park in Rotherham, with the aid of £5 million from the Heritage Lottery Fund and Big Lottery Fund. The park, listed Grade II by English Heritage, was first opened to the public in 1891 by The Prince of Wales.
The restoration work will include repairs to the memorial garden, cenotaph, rock garden and bandstand. In addition, new toilets and a bowling pavilion will be built, and the 70-year-old paddling pool will be replaced.
